Grace Lin At Washington Middle School For Girls

It was a great day for the fourth and fifth grade students at Washington Middle School for Girls! They had the opportunity to meet award winning author/illustrator, Grace Lin. Grace spoke with the students about her books, her Chinese-American roots, and her love of reading and drawing. She also read a story from her Newberry Honor book, “Where The Mountain Meets the Moon” and led the girls in a fun draw-along session. Thanks to the J.Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, every student received a signed copy of “Where The Mountain Meets the Moon“. They showed their appreciation to Grace by repeating an important Chinese phrase that they learned during her presentation: “Xie Xie”. Thank you to Grace, the students and staff of Washington Middle School for Girls, and to the generosity of those who donate to An Open Book Foundation!
