Laurel Snyder at Excel Academy Public Charter School

Second graders at Excel Academy Public Charter School joined the ranks of those young readers clamoring for a “bedtime banana” after Charlie and Mouse author Laurel Snyder spoke with the students about her early years as a writer and the positive impact of friends, and teachers, on that development.  Laurel also took the time to meet with Excel’s seventh graders, where she spoke candidly with and read aloud to the young women.  The older students received copies of Laurel’s just-released-that-week Orphan Island, which Laurel personalized for each recipient.  All told, more than a hundred students left with a smile and their first summer reading book in hand!
